First, know that these flashlights are made to use (2) 26650 style rechargeable batteries, (not included) and you will need a battery charger that accepts them for them as the flashlight does not have a charge capability built in to it, so know that you will have additional purchases to make if you don't already have them. The 4 brightness settings for the Convoy L6, (controlled by the side button as opposed to the tail-mounted ON/OFF switch.) go as follows: Low ~ the brightness of the AA-cell Lumilite, Medium ~ the brightness of the D-cell Mag-Lite, Hi ~ the brightness of car headlights, Turbo ~. Approaching specialized search and rescue light levels. Double-clicking the side selector button initiates a Strobe mode.
